Alasya Turkish Restaurant
‘Alasya’ is the old Ottoman word meaning Cyprus – an east Mediterranean island about one-tenth the size of Tasmania.
It’s no surprise then, that the founders of the business – Cihan and Cemal – both hail from the ancient island. Indeed they met and married in a quaint, little restaurant called Alasya and immigrated to Australia shortly after.
In 1978 Cihan and Cemal established Alasya Restaurant. Alasya started life as a single, tiny shopfront dishing up home-style Turkish cuisine. Since then, Alasya has gone through many transformations, expanding into a multi-dimensional business including a retail butcher, wholesale bakery, a large restaurant, and corporate catering.
What has not changed, however, is our insistence that everything be done the old-fashioned way. Our bakery, for instance, can be best described as a village bakery (complete with wood-fired ovens) within a contemporary, industrial setting.
As for our restaurant, we make everything fresh – onsite. To make the dips; we wash, peel, and blend – all in-house. Same with our kebabs and yemeks. That’s Alasya…that’s old-school!
If you have any enquiries about any of our businesses, or products, please feel free to contact us at any time. We look forward to hearing from you.
